Comment |
Proportion of seats held by women in the national parliament was not increasing in a linear manner, the proportion of women was changing during the surveyed period. The most significant change from the perspective of the proportion of women occurred after the elections in 2010 when the proportion of women increased by 6.5 percentage points. After having significantly increased in 2010, the proportion of women in the Chamber of Deputies was fluctuating around the value of 21%. In the last elections to the Chamber of Deputies in 2021, the most women in history were elected (25%).
Proportion of seats held by women in local governments has been gradually increasing. The local level (local councils) is the only level in the Czech Republic, in which the proportion of women in elected bodies has been developing up to now in a linear way - although an increase in the indicator was rather slow (by units or tenths of percentage points). Concurrently, the percentage of women in elected bodies on the local level has always been higher than their proportion in the Chamber of Deputies.
A horizontal cross (x) in the table in place of the number means that the phenomenon did not occur (in the territory of the municipality, elections to municipal councils were not held on time in the given year).
District and regional data on the share of elected women and men are calculated in the territorial structure valid as of 1 January 2020. |
