ČR 2030 - List Of Indicators
Annual Take-up Of Agricultural Land
Indicator detail
Metadata
Relevance/rationale of the indicator (resp. why the indicator was chosen to measure the target and how it is suitable for these purposes) | The fundamental impact of human activity on the landscape is changes in land use. Typical trends today are the increase in built-up and other areas and the gradual decline of agricultural land. These changes are mainly due to the expansion of residential, commercial and storage areas and the development of transport infrastructure. The occupation of the agricultural land fund affects the ability of the landscape to withstand external influences of natural and anthropogenic origin. The remodeling of the landscape disrupts its original functions and reduces biodiversity, while the fundamental impact of the development of the area is to reduce the retention capacity of the landscape. |

Comment | Soil is the finite natural resource the way it is used is one of the main drivers of environmental change and has a significant impact on quality of life and ecosystems. For a long time, agricultural, forest and other semi-natural areas have been occupied for the development of urban and other anthropogenic areas, especially for buildings and infrastructure. In 2020, 315.4 hectares of arable land were built-up. In addition, 1.8 thousand hectares of arable land were converted into gardens in 2020. This is mainly related to the growth of scattered built-up residential areas and gardens around these buildings. |
