Water (and to a lesser extent also wind) erosion results in soil abstraction, which is a basic component of ecosystems and an indispensable condition for their functioning. Soil is formed by weathering of rocks and the activities of living organisms, and this process is so slow that we can consider it a non-renewable resource. |

The indicator is calculated as the share of the acreage of land significantly endangered by erosion in the total acreage of agricultural land in the Czech Republic, in the case of water erosion on arable land in the case of wind erosion. |
