Definition | According to §38a of Act 187/2006 Coll., Paternity Benefit has a benefit. an insured person who cares for a child of whom he is the father is entitled, and only if the start of paternity leave occurred within 6 weeks from the day of the child's birth. The number of live births is used to estimate the number of fathers in the case of paternity and cash support in maternity. Paternity benefit is composed of the share of the number of payout cases of Paternity benefit and the total number of live births. According to §33 letter a) of Act 187/2006 Coll. is the support period of the Cash assistance in maternity benefit of 28 weeks. The PPM benefit is therefore paid out by the Czech Social Security Administration on a long-term, monthly and recurring basis, for that reason the calculation works with the number of new PPM cases for men, in which only the first case of payment of the given benefit is counted for 1 application and which is not affected by the length of the support period benefit payments. Maternity benefit is composed of the share of the number of new payout cases of Maternity benefit and total number of live births. |

Comment | The total number of new payments is not equal to the number of live births, because Maternity benefit is not drawn on all live births. The number of live births replaces the number of fathers in the calculation, which is not recorded in the Czech Republic. |
